Zwick USA to Exhibit at Automotive Testing Expo 2017

Zwick USA will display advanced solutions for testing of automotive materials and components at the 2017 Automotive Testing Expo to be held in Novi, Mich. at the Suburban Collection Showplace October 23, 24 and 25.

Zwick industry experts will give product demonstrations of a 10 kN AllroundLine testing system and a ZHVµ micro Vickers and Knoop hardness tester.  Professionals will also be on hand to address application questions and to discuss the advantages Zwick testing machines offer in support of industry trends such as lightweighting.

“As lightweighting continues to influence the materials used in series-level production, we expect that engineering tolerances and quality requirements will continue to increase.  Customers turn to us as they tackle new challenges in the joining of mixed materials and in the characterization of composites as well as novel alloys,” explains Florian Liebert, managing director of Zwick USA.

Zwick has kept pace with these developments and the changes that they have brought into the modern automotive test lab.
“Customers are increasingly called upon to maintain high levels of throughput in support of new model developments and production goals.  “Zwick has kept pace with these developments through the introduction of the innovative testXpert III testing software, which optimizes operator engagement with the testing machine, boosts throughput and increases accuracy in measurement,” says Liebert.

AllroundLine testing systems from Zwick deliver the highest levels of flexibility and simplify the process of managing testing protocols.  Dual test Areas reduce changeover time between tests, maintaining result reproducibility and making the acquisition of a second testing machine unnecessary. Two testing applications can be run immediately, while only one load cell is required for the entire testing system.  A flexible plug and slot system allows specimen grips and test fixtures to be changed whenever required, enabling a wide range of tests to be performed with the same testing machine and allowing rapid, highly flexible adaptation to the current testing situation.  AllroundLine testing systems feature patented Xforce load cells, which offer excellent resistance to overloads and parasitic influences.  Development and manufacturing of the AllroundLine, including all mechanical, electronic, and software components—together with the comprehensive range of accessories—takes place at Zwick's production facility in Germany, so all components work together seamlessly.

The introduction of high strength steels for the production of hot stamped body components and the use of alloys in various structural applications have become key aspects in evaluations of hardness.  Hardness testing represents a key element of material testing programs and the ZHVµ micro Vickers and Knoop line of hardness testers increase efficiency while ensuring the highest levels of accuracy.  An automatic turret and motorized test cycle free the operator to handle other tasks as the hardness tester runs in batch mode.
